Vision and Sensing Research Group

This group was established at the (then) Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (now Faculty of Education, Science, Technology and Mathematics) in January 2010 under the leadership of Associate Professor Roland Goecke. The aim of the group is to a focal point of high quality, interdisciplinary research in the areas of vision and sensing. The group is part of the Human-Centred Computing Institute.

Research areas of interest include:

  • Computer vision
  • Affective sensing
  • Computational behaviour analysis
  • Pattern recognition
  • Multimodal signal processing
  • Related areas

Our work covers both fundamental basic research as well as applied research. Application areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Sports science / analysis
  • Health / well-being / ageing
  • Face authentication / biometrics
  • Surveillance
  • Performance analysis
  • Biomedical engineering

If you are interested in collaborating, please contact Roland Goecke.
