My research interest continues to be in computer vision and image understanding, with a new focus on face recognition and human action recognition, either for biometrics or for affective computing. The topics of interest are:
- Motion analysis for recognition of deformable objects and events in image sequences
- Multimodal interfaces fusing vision, speech and sound for human-computer interaction (HCI)
- Robot vision, structure from motion, egomotion estimation, tracking with deformable models, visual guidance of mobile robots
- Augmented reality
- Image processing with a special interest in medical images. I have worked in segmentation of cell’s nucleus in images of biopsies, segmentation of coronary arteries in angiographic images and segmentation and 3D reconstruction of bones from CAT images.
I am particularly keen on the return of research results to society.
